Your guide to all-inclusive

We know that all-inclusive holidays don’t always have the best reputation. Repetitive buffets that focus on quantity rather than quality, watered down alcohol and feeling obligated to stay within the walls of your resort – no thanks! Well, what if we told you that you’ve simply been going to the wrong places? All-inclusive is without a doubt the best way to guarantee a luxury hassle-free holiday (with the assistance of booking through Winged Boots, of course) but we’re on hand to break down all the travel misconceptions to ensure you book the board basis that’s right for you.

What’s really included?

All-inclusive means exactly what it says on the tin but let’s go back to basics. On top of your room, you’ll have three meals a day and often limitless snacks in between included in one bulk price including soft drinks, water and local beers and wines available any time throughout your stay. All-inclusive also means that all the hotel entertainment is at your beck and call. Think quiz nights, comedy shows and the on-site kids’ club if the hotel has one. A key thing to remember when it comes to all-inclusive is that what you get for your money differs from resort to resort. When drinks are flowing and you’re in the mood for something a little stronger than wine or beer, top-shelf liquors may have to be requested and in some cases, may incur a minimal charge for the good stuff. Gym and spa access is all yours although at some hotels, personal training sessions and relaxing treatments may have a surcharge.

Still a bit sceptical?

Food is an integral part of a holiday however for an extended break, the buffet may start to feel slightly repetitive. We’re here to bust the buffet blues! Lucky for you, Winged Boots only offer luxury hotels where the all-inclusive food rate is of the highest standard. Our advice is to head to a resort that offers a few on-site restaurants with at least one á la carte option. Trust us, you’ll feel a lot better having the freedom of ordering what you desire and knowing that the tab has already been taken care of.

The same goes with the likes of spa treatments. A large part of holidays is relaxing and there’s no better way to melt your stress away than with a therapy or two. And yes, there are really hotels out there with spa treatments part of the all-inclusive package! With certain suites, some resorts offer a complimentary massage upon arrival or even resort credit that can be exchanged for a treatment or an excursion. Check out our offers page to see exactly where you could be living out these luxury holiday dreams.

Will I be restricted to staying inside the resort?

All-inclusive has a reputation of being suitable for the lazy traveller – but what’s wrong with that? Holidays are designed to be out of the ordinary and escaping the stresses of daily life. Lounging by the pool and ordering endless cocktails underneath the sunshine is a life that we all dream of but if you’re itching to explore the destination that you’re in, there’s truly nothing stopping you. Most resorts offer a superb concierge service for organising the best off-site excursions in the area that are brilliantly suited towards each individual traveller. We recommend choosing a resort that’s in the heart of the action, not too far away from the town or city centre which is perfect for experiencing the local food and culture for a change of pace. All-inclusive really can give you the best of both worlds.

Winged Boots only offer luxury hotels where the all-inclusive food rate is of the highest standard.

Where are the best places to go?

The Caribbean, Mexico, Mauritius and the Maldives are the ultimate go-to destinations for a glamourous all-inclusive affair. With an abundance of five-star hotels to choose from, you’ll be assured that you’re receiving the best service, facilities and accommodation and of course, sparkling sunshine. We’ve got you covered with the top hotels that offer an excellent all-inclusive board basis including:

Lux* Belle Mare – Mauritius

Although premium liquor brands are not included in the price, your luxury suite accommodation with views of the Caribbean Sea will send you straight to heaven.

Fairmont Mayakoba, Riviera Maya – Mexico

The all-inclusive package at Fairmont Mayakoba is known as the Appetite for Luxury – and that just says it all. All three meals are in included at a variety of restaurants including snacks and international brand beverages. The little ones can enjoy the kids’ club and there is a wealth of activities available such as bike riding, kayaking and even a bird watching boat tour.

Jumby Bay Island - Antigua

At Jumby Bay Island expect all buffet and á la carte meals and beverages included. You’ll also benefit from the in-room minibar, on-site live performances and non-motorised watersports as part of your package.

Calabash Cove Resort & Spa – St. Lucia

Enjoy room service from 7:30am to 9:30pm, an in-room bar and all meals and drinks included in one bulk price. Premium brand spirits and vinos from an extensive wine list are sure to complete your holiday.

Winged Boots Wisdom:

  • Always check the small print to see exactly what’s included so there are no surprises when you arrive.

  • All-inclusive is ideal for families with young children. Most hotels offer a children’s menu at the restaurants as well as a kids’ club so parents can have peace of mind.

  • Equally, if you’re on your honeymoon or celebrating a special occasion with a loved one, the staff will go that extra mile for all-inclusive guests.
