Hosting events at The O2 Arena in London, seeing the hotels of Dubai and learning about the wonder of Antigua is all in a month's work for us here at Winged Boots. As every month previously, March has been a busy one and it shows no signs of slowing down. The marketing team attended the Travel Marketing Awards where we were nominated for best brochure and our managing director David Ox showed our support for Cancer Research UK’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign at the Champneys Charity Gala Ball. Oh, and how could we forget about the amazing rooms of The Corinthia London? Read on to find out more.
The Corinthia Hotel, London
The Corinthia Hotel is one of the most well-loved hotels in London, and for good reason. Members of the team were lucky enough to visit for the afternoon and the hotel showcased its recently refurbished accommodation and restaurant. “We were shown three different room types which were all phenomenal. The Executive King room, the Garden Suite and the London Suite are all brilliant options if you’re looking for a base in the capital,” Charley Curwood, personal travel executive said. “Kerridge’s Bar & Grill looked amazing too and the spa is simply out-of-this-world. You can easily get lost in it and there are loads of treatments on offer.” The afternoon turned to evening thanks to a delectable range of canapés and champagne served at the on-site bar which was much appreciated!

It was then time to put our glad rags on as we headed to Hilton Park Lane for the Travel Marketing Awards 2019. Setting the standard for marketing excellence in the travel industry, the awards have been an absolute must on the calendar of many companies within the sector since 2009. Volume One of Winged Boots: The Lifestyle Brochure was nominated in the Best Brochure category and while we didn’t win, it was still a great night. Tim Martin-Harvey, graphic designer, attended the awards along with Lauren Godfrey, marketing manager, and Ellena Rowlin, content writer. Speaking about the event, Tim said, “It was great to see Winged Boots’ hard work recognised. Even though we didn’t win, I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved and hopefully next year will be a different story.”

Managing director David Ox along with his wife Lauren headed to The London Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel for the Champneys Charity Gala Ball in aid of Cancer Research UK’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign. The guests, which included celebrities such as Stacey Solomon, Piers Morgan and Denise Van Outen all showed their support for the good cause, which was the first gala evening that Champneys have hosted. Winged Boots gave away a holiday that helped push overall donations on the night to more than £300,000.
Speaking about the event, David had nothing but good things to say. “The gala was a huge success and raised a lot of money for Cancer Research UK,” David said. “You wouldn’t have been able to tell it was Champneys first gala as everything ran smoothly and I highly doubt it will be the last. I look forward to attending next year.”

We are proud of our preferred luxury partnerships and without them, we wouldn’t be able to offer you, our customers, such fantastic opportunities, experiences and deals. As a way of thanks, we invited a selection of our most valued key partners to our hospitality box at The O2 Arena in London where they saw George Ezra perform.
Along with this, partners were also presented with bespoke sweet treats made by British gifting retailers Biscuiteers. “The concert was phenomenal and we are extremely proud of all these amazing partnerships we have,” Anna-Maria Janssen, product manager of Winged Boots said. “It was incredible to show some appreciation for everyone that we work with.”

It wasn’t just our partners who had all the fun at The O2 Arena in London. We invited a selection of our corporate customers to enjoy a night with Panic! At The Disco. The five-musicians performed hit songs such as High Hopes, Emperor’s New Clothes and I Write Sins Not Tragedy to a roaring crowd.
Hosted by our head of Winged Boots Business James Kenyon and marketing manager Lauren Godfrey, the event was a big success. “Having a Hospitality Box at the O2 means we can share fantastic events with our customers,” James said. “Panic! At The Disco put on a great show and I was singing along all night. Everybody who attended had a great time and can't wait for the next show.”

The land of towering skyscrapers was then next on our agenda as three members of our team went to Dubai. Anna-Maria Janssen, product manager, Ellen Stevens, product executive and personal travel manager, Louise Silverman spent three days in the glistening emirate, and discovered what some of the hotels are offering guests in 2019. “It was a brilliant trip and I loved every second,” Louise said. “We stayed in the Mandarin Oriental, Jumeira for one night and Jumeirah Zabeel Saray for two. Both were amazing in different ways. Mandarin boasted huge rooms and a fantastic rooftop terrace while the spa at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray blew my mind. They even have a snow room!”
Days were spent going around lavish hotels such as the Burj Al Arab, W Dubai – The Palm and The Address Palace Downtown, and Louise is now brimming with top tips for holiday makers heading to the emirate. “If you want amazing views of The Dubai Fountain, either stand on the bridge or book dinner at one of the restaurants found on the terraces nearby,” Louise said. “Mandarin Oriental, Jumeira also has a fantastic rooftop terrace. It’s a brilliant choice for post-dinner drinks complete with magical views that are to die for.”

The 5th of March saw all staff expand their expert knowledge on everything to do with Antigua. Led by Joel Henry, the marketing and business development manager of Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority, and Shirley Brooke, leisure sales director at GP Associates, we delved into this beautiful gem of the Caribbean.
Focussing on Jumby Bay Island Resort, tales were told about beach bar crawls on the main island, the exclusivity of the hotel and just how luxurious the villas truly are. The fact that Jumby Bay Island Resort is all-inclusive is another top selling point. There’s no need to worry about your meals, you can sit back and let the hotel take care of you… what’s not to love? Oh, and watersports are complimentary too. Ellen Stevens, product executive at Winged Boots, said that the sessions are incredibly valuable to all staff involved. “Training sessions are great for us," Ellen said. "It lets the personal travel managers have a true understanding of the destination and hotels. A big thank you to Joel and Shirley for sharing their knowledge.”
