The UK is having her moment, and after the last two years or more of a pandemic-related hiatus, the country is happily welcoming back tourists from all over the world and is, again, fast becoming one of the coolest and most sophisticated destinations to visit.

As England’s capital, London is naturally on most people’s bucket list. It's home to many of the most fashionable UK hotels. From sleek contemporary penthouses overlooking the city’s famed skyline to regal suites in beautiful century-old buildings, there is something for everyone’s style and preference.

Elsewhere in the UK amid the smaller villages, coastal towns, and rolling countryside boasts a wealth of quirky and distinctive hotels, from small boutiques to large manor houses that offer sumptuous spas, hundreds of acres of land to explore, and a characteristically warm hospitality.

Below we have given you a list of some stand-out hotels across the UK that we think deserve a little time in the spotlight, and who knows, you may discover your next place to stay for a luxury UK break!

Artist Residence Bristol

For a bohemian vibe, the Artist Residence Bristol really is one of the coolest hotels in the UK, in the truest sense of the word.

Located in the fashionable St Paul's area of the city on the lush Portland Square, this former boot factory is a Georgian townhouse that was turned into a chic hotel of unusual rooms, lofts and spacious suites that have been lovingly and individually designed. Each features limited edition art prints as well as vintage and reclaimed furniture.

The hotel’s café, bar and kitchen – aptly named The Boot Factory – is an all-day hangout serving a casual food menu for brunch and evening meals as well as coffee and cocktails in its welcoming and hearty atmosphere.

Want to explore the city? Within five minutes you will reach the central shopping area of Cabot Circus and the cultural and creative hub of Stokes Croft, placing it in the perfect location for a cheeky weekend away in an up-and-coming city.

NOBU Shoreditch, London

If you’ve ever seen any form of California-based American reality TV, you’ll have probably heard of NOBU. Its famous Los Angeles restaurant is a popular spot for wealthy celebrities who know THE places to be seen in West Hollywood.

Of course, Shoreditch is equally as cool – being East London’s creative and start-up tech district – so the two together are a match made in luxurious trendy heaven.

Supplying a perfect mix of Japanese simplicity and edgy industrial design, NOBU Shoreditch is without doubt one of the coolest hotels in London, located close to the underground station at Old Street and within walking distance to Liverpool Street station it has easy access to everywhere in the city at its fingertips.

Inside, its rooms and suites offer a tranquil space of cool, muted colours and crisp furnishings in a minimalist, Japanese style. Modern bathrooms and amenities complete these very sophisticated accommodations, which are ideal for couples, friends and business travellers.

It comes as no surprise that Nobu Restaurant and Nami Bar are exquisite; signature Japanese-Peruvian dishes alongside locally inspired fare make this a fantastic dining experience.

The Pig, Hampshire

The original hotel in the UK’s collection of Pigs, and often noted as one of the best luxury hotels in UK, Hampshire’s hippest accommodation has garnered a reputation with more discernible guests who want something a little different, yet unmistakeably lavish.

Nestled amid the beautiful New Forest in southern England, The Pig’s main draw is its deep commitment to fresh, seasonal and homegrown produce from its Kitchen Garden – anything that can’t be found here is sourced from within a 25-mile radius.

The inviting, wood-panelled bar offers a huge wine selection plus a range of delicious cocktails using high-quality, sustainable ingredients from as close to the hotel as possible.

Offering a unique combination of cosy charm and understated luxury, The Pig’s interiors range from Snug and Comfy Rooms to a range of gorgeous Lodges, Cabins and Huts.

Each boasts unique design features as well as walk-in monsoon showers (larger rooms include a freestanding or rolltop bathtub too), ridiculously comfortable beds and a well-stocked larder that includes lovely vintage-style treats to purchase.

House of Gods, Edinburgh

There’s nowhere quite like Edinburgh. Considered to be one of the world’s most vibrant and diverse cities in terms of culture, arts and history. It is also visually breath-taking, with Edinburgh Castle overlooking the rest of the city from its central hilltop perch plus the ancient volcano, Arthur’s Seat, located in the magnificent group of hills of Holyrood Park.

House of Gods is a boutique city hotel and cocktail bar located in Cowgate in Edinburgh’s Old Town, pushing the limits of decadent extravagance with its ‘beige is blasphemy’ axiom.

Each room is decorated with rich fabrics and soft furnishings, marble bathrooms, deep colours and oak-panelled feature walls alongside unusual ornaments and trinkets. The House of Gods cocktail bar and newly opened Lilith’s Lounge cocktail bar make incredible late-night stops for evening drinks in this wondrous city.

Claridge’s, London

You know it’s a pretty special hotel when its one-word moniker is enough to evoke images of refined British elegance and tradition. Claridge’s is an icon of the art deco era and set in the heart of Mayfair – one of the most prominent and distinguished areas of London.

Built in the 1850s, this famed hotel is renowned for its impeccable service, attention to detail and glamourous gastronomy, making it one of, if not THE most fashionable five-star hotel in England’s capital.

Its rooms and suites are undeniably lavish, and as well as being spacious and bright, each one is exquisitely designed and furnished with thoughtful touches that give it that world-class appeal. With a wine cellar that houses more than a thousand wines, champagnes and rare vintages, the choice on offer is staggering.

Also, Claridge’s ArtSpace exhibits collections from around the world all throughout the year so keep an eye out for the next cool installations.

Private island on the River Thames? Check. Four Michelin-starred restaurants? Check. Floating spa on an actual canal boat? Check. The Monkey Island Estate is a super-stylish hotel, not least for its rich history on an island on the Thames that has traditionally been popular with monarchs, aristocrats and the artistic elite for centuries.

Located in the village of Bray in Berkshire, a little over an hour’s drive away from London, this superb hotel offers luxurious accommodation, delectable dining options and a truly one-of-a-kind spa.

The hotel’s rooms and suites have been created by award-winning interior designers and embody a contemporary feel, each with customised furnishings and magnificent views over the Thames or the beautiful surrounding grounds.
