With so many glorious destinations to visit in the world, it feels impossible to just choose one. Well, we say you don't have to! Packing two holidays into a single trip means city goers can get some beach time and luxe-seekers can find their adventurous side.

Now, you may be thinking that sounds like a lot of travelling – but you don’t need to worry, as our curated list of twin centre holidays only include destinations that are maximum 90-minutes apart, meaning you're getting double the fun in no time at all.

Sri Lanka and the Maldives

Travel time: 1 hour, 30 minutes via plane

This luxury multi-centre trip offers an alternative to the typical Africa and Indian Ocean combo that we usually see. Making its comeback, Sri Lanka is a culture-rich destination that offers spectacular scenery and wildlife, beautiful beaches, historical monuments and tantalising cuisine. Climb the ancient Sigiriya Rock Fortress, try your hand at a cooking class, visit the famous Temple of the Tooth, take a train ride along the renowned Nine Arches Bridge and experience a sunrise safari where elephants, leopard and buffalo are on the spot list.

After an adventure to remember, fly just 90 minutes to paradise and you’ll arrive in the Maldives where postcard pictures exist in real time with cerulean waters and powder soft sand. Relax your body and rejuvenate your mind as there is nowhere else you need to be. Overwater villas, Michelin-starred restaurants, luxurious spa experiences and exhilarating watersports make the Maldives a place for all types of travellers searching for an extra special break.

Get up close and personal with Sri Lanka’s wildlife with a stay at Wild Coast Tented Lodge near Yala National Park. In a location that sees jungle meet the beach, this special glamping-style accommodation puts you at one with nature without sacrificing your creature comforts, including five-star dining and private plunge pools.

Meanwhile, overwater accommodation awaits at The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands. The one-of-a-kind resort has villas that will take your breath away with modern décor, excellent facilities and the highest standard of service. You won’t want for anything here.

Singapore and Malaysia

Travel time: 1 hour, 25 minutes via plane

Not too dissimilar, these vibrant countries have culture and cuisine at their forefront serving up a taste of tradition and modernity. Starting in Singapore, experience the glamour of designer shopping, towering hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants combined with street food markets, botanical gardens and temples. Highlights include wandering around the tropical Gardens by the Bay and watching its famous outdoor light show, heading to the top of the Tiger Sky Tower and taking a food tour, where you’ll try some of the best food that Asia has to offer.

Just a 90 minute flight away is Malaysia, and what’s better than some R&R after your busy city break in Singapore. We suggest staying on the island of Langkawi. Here you can enjoy a laid-back atmosphere where relaxing on pristine beaches, chasing waterfalls in the rainforest, and watching the sunset with a cocktail or three is a must. Those who are brave enough should book a visit to the Sky Bridge, where, after experiencing the world’s steepest cable car, you’ll be taken 660 meters above sea level to an impressively designed, curved bridge that is built between two peaks. Meanwhile closer to ground level, water babies will love visiting the Seven Wells Waterfall: a beautiful spot where seven pools of water and waterfalls join together to form a natural waterpark that's perfect for cooling off.

Where to stay

Marvel at views over Singapore via the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands. This hotel is an icon within the city’s skyline and unsurprisingly one of the hottest places to rest your head. As well as the famous pool, the hotel offers exquisite fine dining options, excellent entertainment including a gallery and casino and lavish rooms with jaw-dropping views.

Then transition to beachfront living at The St. Regis Langkawi, showcasing beautifully appointed suites and gastronomic excellence. The hotel is recognised for its breathtaking Kayuputi restaurant which sits elevated above the Andaman Sea. The restaurant serves pan-Asian haute cuisine with a complementing wine menu and expertly made cocktails. Our favourite spot is the Pavilion Bar, where you can lay in netted hammocks over the ocean, overlooking the panoramic mountain views – champagne in hand, of course.

New York and Toronto

Travel time: 1 hour via plane

New York’s captivating powers see visitors drawn in by its skyline adorned with towering skyscrapers and famous landmarks. Place yourself in your favourite movie by strolling through Central Park, grabbing a slice of New York pizza or heading to the top of the Rockefeller Center for panoramic views of the city. Plus, thrill seekers can now enjoy The Top of The Rock view in a whole new light as the building’s newest attraction allows you to recreate the iconic ‘Lunch atop a Skycraper’ image taken in 1932. The famous photograph sees 11 men enjoying lunch on a beam 69 stories above New York during the construction of the Rockefeller. Today, you can be strapped onto a mechanical beam and (safely) dangled above the city.

Next up is Toronto after a short one-hour flight. No trip here is complete without visiting the iconic Niagara Falls. Made up of three waterfalls, it sits in a semicircle which straddles both Canada and the USA, producing over 3,160 tons of water per second. Tourists can enjoy views of the falls from numerous viewing points including the observation tower, via boat or even a helicopter ride. For foodies in Toronto, must trys include Canada’s national dish poutine, the famous peameal bacon sandwich and, for those with a sweet tooth, butter tarts.

When visiting New York, The Plaza offers a slice of the golden age with old school hospitality and a sublime location opposite the magical Central Park. The hotel has starred in many famous movies including Crocodile Dundee, The Great Gatsby, North by Northwest and arguably the most famous Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. In fact, the hotel offers a Home Alone day out where you can order pizza, take a limousine tour of the city and try the delicious strawberry sundae.

Meanwhile Shangri-La Toronto is a chic stay offering sky-high city views and a central location. Guest experiences include fine dining at Bosk, the hotel’s signature Asian-Canadian style restaurant, and taking time for TLC at the onsite spa. The Miraj Hammam Spa blends authentic Middle Eastern traditions with modern practices to offer guests a variety of treatments. As well as a swimming pool and hot tub, enjoy a full Hammam experience, facials, massages, body care, waxing and more.

Miami and The Bahamas

Travel time: 1 hour via plane

This exquisite twin centre trip sees you starting in Miami, a modern metropolis. Running along the city edge is the famous Miami Beach, the perfect spot to enjoy Florida’s all year-round sunshine. From the beach to the bushes, take off in an airboat for a tour of the Everglades. A guided tour will take you through the national park so you can spot an abundance of wildlife including alligators and turtles. For those looking for beachside chic during the day and fun after dark, head to Ocean Drive where the streets are lined with bars, restaurants and super cars.

And after one hour of flying, you’ll be saying goodbye to Miami and hello Bahamas. Made up of more than 700 islands, it’s easy to get lost within vast coral reefs, palm fringed coves and lush landscapes. We recommend heading to Pig Beach, where you can swim with the island’s famous curly-tailed residents. Alternatively, opt for a day of fun that the entire family can enjoy at Aquaventure, a one-of-a-kind 141-acre waterpark. It's home to 20 swimming areas, exhilarating water slides, river rapids, and more.

Located on Miami's Millionaire's Row, stay at Fontainebleau Miami Beach where you’ll rub shoulders with the stars, and we’re not exaggerating – if it’s good enough for J.Lo and the Kardashians then it’s good enough for us. The hotel’s ultra-modern look and feel is impressive with multiple pool areas, luxurious spa and even four nightclubs making this one of the hottest venues in the city.

Then arrive in the Bahamas where the exclusive Rosewood Baha Mar boasts a bohemian, yet luxury feel. Fitting in with its surroundings, this hotel showcases neutral tones and airy spaces that let the views do the talking. Travel in October where you can be a part of the Baha Mar Culinary & Arts Festival. This unforgettable weekend brings guests and locals together to embark on a culinary and cultural experience with a fantastic programme of events, exclusive dinners, tastings with chefs, intimate conversations with artists and much more.
